‘One Piece’ Grabs Early Season 3 Renewal at Netflix

Netflix will keep sailing the high seas.
The streamer has given an early season three renewal to its live-action adaptation of One Piece, announcing the pickup at an annual celebration of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga in Tokyo. The renewal comes several months ahead of the season two premiere, which is slated for 2026. That, incidentally, is much sooner than the season two renewal for One Piece, which came a couple weeks after the series premiere in 2023.
Additionally, Netflix announced that Ian Stokes will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner on season three, which is set to begin filming later this year. Stokes wrote two episodes and was a co-executive producer of season one. Former co-showrunner Matt Owens departed the show in March; he and Tracz were co-showrunners on the second season, while Owens and Steven Maeda ran the first season.
Along with the renewal announcement, Netflix released a teaser for season two of One Piece showing Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates embarking on further adventures, as well as a glimpse of several new characters. Watch it below.
Season two of One Piece is subtitled Into the Grand Line. Netflix describes it this way: “Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”
Along with Godoy, series regulars Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero and Taz Skylar will return in season two, and Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Jeff Ward and Michael Dorman will also reprise their roles. The large cast for season two also includes Charithra Chandran, Joe Manganiello, Katey Sagal, Lera Abova, Mark Harelik, Sophia Anne Caruso, Yonda Thomas, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Brendan Sean Murray, Callum Kerr, Camrus Johnson, Clive Russell, Daniel Lasker, David Dastmalchian, Jazzara Jaslyn, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, Ty Keogh, Werner Coetser, Rigo Sanchez, James Hiroyuki Liao, Mark Penwill and Anton Jeftha. Mikaela Hoover will provide the voice and face capture for Tony Tony Chopper.
Owens and Tracz executive produce season two with Oda, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe and Maeda. Stokes will be an executive producer of season three.
