Orlando Bloom got upstaged by his adorable dog Biggie Smalls during an interview on Today.

The 48-year-old actor stopped by the morning talk show on Monday, June 9, to chat with Savannah Guthrie about his career and his new movies — Prime Video comedy Deep Cover and his drama The Cut.

However, their conversation was cut off abruptly when a dog started barking off-screen. It turned out that the barking was coming from Bloom’s teacup poodle.

While answering a question, Bloom shifted his focus toward the barking before he said it was time to introduce his furry friend.

“He’s looking for attention,” he joked as the camera panned over to show Biggie resting in Dakota Johnson’s arms on a couch.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star continued, saying, “He would never bark, he’s just obviously like, ‘Wait, Dad’s over there?'” Bloom also joked that Johnson was “stealing” Biggie, but she was quick to clarify that she was “just the babysitter” and “just the nanny.”

“He’s so cute. Do you bring him everywhere? “Guthrie gushed, adding that Biggie said he needed “a speaking part” to stop by Today.

Bloom confirmed that Biggie joins him on outings, saying the pet “keeps quiet as a mouse” usually.

“I think he’s having separation anxiety,” he said, adding that this is the kind of interruption that can only happen on live TV.

Johnson then brought Biggie over so that he could relax in his dad’s lap while the interview continued.

The actor described Biggie as his “emotional support animal,” adding that the pup must be a fan of stardom since he was “enjoying his moment” interrupting Bloom’s interview.

Guthrie referred to Biggie as a “diva,” but she did not seem surprised that he was made for fame.

“He’s got a face for stardom,” she said, prompting Bloom to proudly agree that “he’s going to steal the show.”

Bloom and his longtime love Katy Perry have had several dogs over the years, and it looks like Biggie is their latest addition to the family.

In July 2020, the actor revealed that his dog Mighty had gone missing and sadly died.

“Mighty’s on the other side now. After 7 days of searching from sunrise to sunset and into the wee hours, today, the 7th day ~the number of completion~ we found his collar… I have wept more this week than I thought possible, which has been very cathartic and healing… I left no stone unturned, crawled thru all the manholes, under the roads, searched every backyard and creek bed. Had two separate sniffer dogs do their best as well,” he wrote in a post that Perry re-shared on Instagram.

The tribute continued: “I feel so grateful to have learned from my little Mighty man that love is eternal and the true meaning of devotion. I feel sure he was looking down on me, whistling in every backyard and knowing that I was doing all I possibly could to respect our bond. He was more than a companion. It was a soul connection for sure. I’m sorry. I love you. Thank you.”

To commemorate his beloved dog, Bloom got a tattoo of the canine’s name on his chest. In November 2020, he fostered a dog named Buddy and revealed that the pup “really filled my heart.”
