Patrick and Brittany Mahomes are giving their pal Taylor Swift her props after she bought back her music catalog!
On Friday, May 30, shortly after Swift revealed to fans that she regained control of her masters, both Brittany and her NFL quarterback husband showed support for Swift on social media.
A few hours after Swift’s latest Instagram post — in which she directed fans to a note on her website revealing the ownership of her catalog — Brittany, 29, reposted the announcement to her Instagram Stories with a sweet note.
“Just so amazing,” Brittany wrote, alongside two fitting emojis, “🥹🤍.”
Patrick, 29, also celebrated the moment on X, where he shared a post from Pop Base about Swift’s latest career milestone.
Swift and the Mahomes family — who’ve gotten close since the pop superstar began dating Patrick’s Kansas City Chiefs teammate Travis Kelce in 2023 — have long been supporters of each other, with Patrick telling reporters in February that he’s built a “great” friendship with her in the years since.
Kelce also showed support to Swift this week, as he dropped a “like” on her Instagram post connected to the catalog acquisition.
Swift revealed to fans on Friday that all of the music she has “ever made” now belongs to her — nearly six years after her early catalog of six albums was sold to Scooter Braun and led to a series of chart-topping re-recordings.
“To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it. To my fans, you know how important this has been to me — so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released 4 of my albums, calling them Taylor’s Version,” Swift wrote in her note. “The passionate support you showed those albums and the success story you turned The Eras Tour into is why I was able to buy back my music. I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.”
A source close to contract negotiations told PEOPLE on Friday that, while a report claimed Braun encouraged Shamrock to make the deal with Swift, the entrepreneur was not involved in the sale as Swift “now owns all of her music, and this moment finally happened in spite of Scooter Braun, not because of him.”
Swift’s early catalog, recorded when she was signed to Big Machine Records, was previously purchased by Braun’s company Ithaca Holdings in June 2019. In an effort to give herself ownership of the masters in the years since, Swift released high-profile recordings of her first few albums — beginning with Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April 2021, followed by new versions of Red, 1989 and Speak Now.
