Peacock’s Next Four Scripted Shows Are From Digital Creators (Exclusive)

Peacock will debut four new original series later this month, with a twist: The shows were all developed by social-first video creators.
The streaming platform will debut the four scripted shows under the Peacock Emerging Artist Series banner on May 19, with all episodes available at launch.
The shows are The Warehouse Phase (from creator Charlie Curtis-Beard), The Kouncil (from creator Katie Florence), Older Hotter Wiser (from creator Serena Kerrigan ), and People Like Me (from creator Daren Vongirdner).
All four creators participated in an NBCUniversal accelerator program, and subsequently secured development deals with the company.
NBCUniversal is hoping that the program will help develop new talent that could go on to develop further programming for the company, but also introduce the audience that these creators have already built on platforms like Instagram and TikTok to the streaming platform, with a longer-form offering.
“Each series put the creator’s distinctive voice on display, and it’s taking the storytelling that they’ve been publishing for years and sort of amplified it for long form premium video,” says NBCUniversal advertising & partnerships’ CMO Josh Feldman, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “They really developed and executed their series from concept to screen, but also they’re starring in them, which is great, right? So they wrote them, they produce them, they star in them as well.”
The Warehouse Phase sees Curtis-Beard playing “an overlooked musician who begrudgingly dives into the world of content creation,”; The Kouncil sees Florence “picking up the pieces after a crushing breakup,”; Older Hotter Wiser has Kerrigan in a fresh take on the road trip genre; while People Like Me has Vongirdner turning to his therapist for guidance on navigating life.
The four shows are the culmination of a multiyear project within NBCUniversal to develop new voices and lean into social-first creators.
“The original creator accelerator program was made up of 11 different social first creators who collectively had over 10 million followers between them, so they came on board and they worked within NBCU and got mentored by a number of different people within the company, did a number of different initiatives for us, and really got to know about our company,” Feldman says. “Each of those creators signed development deals with Universal Studio Group to create original series that were authentic to themselves. And throughout the process, the creators had their own development mentor to help them develop both scripted and unscripted content.”
NBCU has lined up BetterHelp and the U.S. Army to serve as launch sponsors, with BetterHelp integrated into People Like Me to spotlight mental health, with the Army will use the banner to present platforms for service.
Telemundo Studios produced The Kouncil, with Tandem Pictures producing the other three shows.
