Camp Half-Blood is coming to Fortnite.
Disney announced Saturday during a CCXP Brazil panel in Sao Paulo that a Fortnite island featuring characters from Percy Jackson and the Olympians is set to launch on Dec. 9. Season two of the TV series premieres a day later, on Dec. 10.
The in-game land is called Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters — a play on The Sea of Monsters, the second volume in Rick Riordan’s book series and the source material for season two of the show. The island map is inspired by the layout of Camp Half-Blood and will let users play as newly arrived demigods, where they’re assigned a cabin, gain abilities and prepare for a showdown with Scylla and Charybdis on the Sea of Monsters.
“Seeing Percy Jackson and The Olympians within Fortnite has been a dream come true for us,” said co-showrunner and executive producer Dan Shotz. “Players will be able to fully immerse themselves into our expanding world as they get claimed by an Olympian god, embark on an epic quest and fight iconic monsters from the Percy Jackson universe. Everything in Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters was built with such incredible detail to honor our series on Disney+ as well as book readers around the world. I hope fans have as much fun exploring this world as we did bringing the series to life.”
Percy, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood will also be featured in the game, along with side quests and minigames inspired by the first two seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The Fortnite experience is part of a larger promotional push for the show that also includes the debut of an official Percy Jackson online store from Disney earlier this week.
Siege of Monsters is rated Teen. It was created as a partnership between Disney Branded Television, Disney Digital Entertainment, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians EPs Shotz, Riordan, Craig Silverstein and Jonathan Steinberg. The game is published by Disney and was developed by Gauntlet using Unreal Engine for Fortnite.
