Peter Gallagher Praises Former Onscreen Son Adam Brody Amid Renaissance: “I’m Proud of Him All the Time”

Peter Gallagher is still in Adam Brody‘s corner.

The Humane star spoke with People about the Brody Renaissance taking place online right now following the release of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This, in which Brody portrays the charming, “hot rabbi,” Noah.

“I wouldn’t go as far as being a proud dad, and I haven’t seen the show, but I’m proud of him all the time as his friend and former TV dad,” he told the publication on Wednesday. “And I’m not surprised at all [of the renaissance]. He’s so talented, and I’m glad he’s still doing his thing.”

Gallagher and Brody starred alongside one another as father and son duo, Sandy and Seth Cohen, respectively, in The O.C. The teen drama series launched Brody’s career after his beloved, albeit brief, stint on Gilmore Girls as Dave Rygalski, rocker and first boyfriend of Lane Kim (Keiko Agena).

While they were filming the iconic Fox series, the Grey’s Anatomy actor recalled recognizing the Fleishman Is in Trouble actor’s talent and noted that certain things have stuck with him since the show ended in 2007 — including the word “Chrismukkah,” which Brody’s Seth coined. It marks the holiday the character started when he wanted to celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah.

“I just remember hearing Chrismukkah for the first time and thinking, ‘That’s brilliant. I think that’s gonna stick,’ and it did,” Gallagher said.

The Grace & Frankie actor isn’t Brody’s only former castmember singing the actor’s praises.

In a separate conversation with People, Rachel Bilson, who portrayed his onscreen girlfriend and eventual wife in The O.C., also took a moment to give him his flowers and share her thoughts on the Brody Renaissance.

“I feel like it’s always been there, but if it is [a renaissance], it’s well deserved,” she said. “I mean, he is awesome. He’s the best.”

While Bilson hasn’t seen Nobody Wants This, which has been renewed for a second season, she “couldn’t be more excited” to.

“Literally Kristen [Bell] and Adam both I love and are like my people,” she said of the series. “So I’m really excited about it and excited for them.”

As a part of the Brody Renaissance, countless memes have made their way across the internet, but, chances are, the Shazam! actor hasn’t seen them because he’s a very offline person, according to Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster.

“[It] is honestly so annoying, because I’m like, ‘I need you to be seeing these memes about you,’” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “We literally created a fake Twitter account for him just so he could go on Twitter and see, and he’s like, ‘No, I can’t.’ He’s too mentally healthy to allow himself to go into these dark holes. And, I respect it.”
