Rachel Brosnahan, Nikki Glaser, Michelle Buteau and Randy Rainbow Set for Joan Rivers Tribute

Joan Rivers may be gone but she’s far from forgotten. Rivers has inspired a November fundraiser featuring some big names from the world of comedy all in service to one of the late icon’s most beloved charities.

Dead Funny – An All-Star Tribute to Joan Rivers Benefiting God’s Love We Deliver is set to take place at New York’s Apollo Theater on Nov. 7. The event will also serve as the official opening night of the 20th annual New York Comedy Festival while also coming on the heels of another milestone with the 10th anniversary of her passing. Rivers passed away at age 81 on Sept. 4, 2014.

Dead Funny has booked Michelle Buteau, Rachel Brosnahan, Nikki Glaser, Matteo Lane and Randy Rainbow to start with additional names expected. Rivers’ daughter and frequent collaborator, Melissa Rivers, is executive producing the event alongside star of stage and screen Erich Bergen.

“My mother always said, ‘Never be afraid to laugh at yourself, after all, you could be missing out on the joke of the century.’ This event will be hilarious, witty, and unapologetic with a little bit of humility,” said Melissa Rivers. “It’s like my mom’s spirit in party form. We’re bringing together some of the funniest people on the planet to celebrate her life and legacy. Remembering her this way, through humor and appreciation, all while supporting a cause that she cared deeply about is truly the only way she would have wanted.”

Rivers worked closely with and for God’s Love We Deliver for more than 25 years. She served as a member of the board beginning in 1994, and not only offered her time and support but also served as an ambassador. She volunteered every Thanksgiving, often bringing Melissa and grandson Cooper in tow. November’s event won’t be the first time the organization returned the love: God’s Love We Deliver named the bakery in their SoHo headquarters, The Joan Rivers Bakery.

God’s Love We Deliver is New York City’s only nonprofit provider of medically tailored meals and nutrition counseling for people living with life-altering illnesses. God’s Love We Deliver boasts an incredible track record of never having a waiting list for nearly 40 years. This year alone, the org is on track to deliver around 5 million meals.

“Joan brought love, compassion and humor to God’s Love We Deliver in every way, whether delivering meals, chopping veggies in our kitchen, or supporting events. She always left us laughing, and we are honored to celebrate her longtime support with this show,” said God’s Love We Deliver president and CEO David Ludwigson. “Joan is forever in our hearts.”

Tickets are now on sale.
