Rohan Marley’s 11 Kids: All About His Sons and Daughters (Who Are Inspired By Their Famous Grandfather’s Legacy)

Rohan and Hill were in an on-again, off-again relationship for over 10 years from the ‘90s to the 2010s. During that time together, they welcomed five children: Zion, Selah, Joshua, John and Sara.
When she had Zion at the peak of her career with the iconic hip-hop trio The Fugees, Hill told Rock’s Backpages that starting a family was “the best decision I could have ever made,” per The Guardian.
After releasing her first and only solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, in 1998, Hill made motherhood her priority, telling Rock’s Backpages that her goal was to be a “good mother.”
“If I could be half the parent that my parents were to me, then I’d be very happy,” she said.
Rohan told PEOPLE in 2008 that Hill continued to prefer being with her family. “She loves [suburban life], being with her children, seeing them grow and instilling our teachings of righteousness into them,” he said.
Hill also maintains a close bond with Rohan’s children from his previous marriage to Khawley, sharing photo collages of each of them for touching birthday tributes.
Rohan shares one child with Barbara Fialho
Rohan married model and musician Barbara Fialho in March 2019, after four years of dating. The two wed in an intimate ceremony in the bride’s hometown of Montes Claros, Brazil, where Rohan sang his father’s hit, “One Love.”
The pair welcomed daughter Maria before eventually splitting.
Fialho shared a clip from the day of Maria’s baptism in 2021 at the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Instagram, writing in the caption, “Papai @RoMarley we wish you were here, but we felt you in spirit, PRAYED FOR YOU, and we love you so much!”
They’re carrying on the family’s musical legacy
Hill and Rohan’s daughter Selah has taken to making music. She told W Magazine in 2017, “Music is my biggest passion” and credited her mother with passing down her creativity.
“My mom had a studio in our house and I would go there and she was always making music and she was always doing something creative on tour, doing something. So it definitely really inspired me,” said Selah.
She’s also opened up about creating under the mantle of her family’s legacy. Selah told Flaunt Digital in 2017, “My family has instilled greatness in me. My legacy has also ensured that I always perform at my highest capability because I have such large shoes to fill.”
In addition to Selah, Zion and Joshua — who performs as YG Marley — have followed in their parents’ musical footsteps, occasionally joining Hill onstage. YG and Hill teamed up on two songs, “Praise Jah in the Moonlight” and “Survival,” performing them together on The Tonight Show in May 2024. YG also joined his mother during her 2024 Coachella performance.
Musical education starts young in the Marley household, with Rohan sharing a video of his young son Aiden’s first listen to “Jonesboro” by Young Thug. He recognized his son’s awed reaction in the caption, saying, “Can’t even begin to explain this masterpiece, I had the same reaction little brudda.”
They have a wide range of talents
While the family carries on a strong musical legacy, they have branched out into a variety of fields. Selah launched her modeling career in 2011 while still in middle school.
She recalled the moment she realized she wanted to be a model, telling W Magazine in 2017, “I was with my dad and he was visiting and staying at a hotel in Times Square. I was telling him, ‘Daddy, I want to model.’ ”
Selah remembered her father’s immediate support, saying he asked her to do a catwalk for him. “Shortly thereafter, he set me up with one of his friends who used to work at an agency and he set me up with an appointment and they ended up taking headshots for me,” she said.
Selah’s not the only Marley to step into modeling — John, YG and Zion appeared together in a Rag and Bone campaign in 2019.
One of his daughters started a charity
Rohan’s eldest daughter, Eden, is continuing her family’s philanthropic legacy.
In 2015, she founded The Garden of Eden Foundation to empower young women through arts education and community-sustained projects.
On the foundation’s website, she credits “The passion for community and philanthropy demonstrated by her grandfather, Bob,” for her desire to give back.
They’re athletes
Rohan’s children also followed his footsteps into athletics. Nico was a linebacker for Tulane and continued his career with the Washington Commanders. Playing his father’s former position, Nico inherited Rohan’s skills on the field.
He reflected on his football journey before playing his last game for Tulane in 2016, telling NOLA, “I’ve been able to really focus on school and football. I know I came here for a reason and I’m fulfilling that reason.”
Since then, he has played a key role in the family business, working alongside Rohan to launch the cannabis brand Lion Order. Nico told Forbes in 2020 that his grandfather’s legacy and his lineage of entrepreneurship inspired him to create his own branch of Marley Naturals, the family estate’s cannabis brand.
“All of that put together makes me want to be a businessman and set an example for who will come after me—my kids, nieces and nephews,” he said.
Hill and Rohan’s daughter, Sara, was also an athlete, playing soccer, track and field and basketball.
His children are committed to being good students
Rohan takes pride in his children’s academic achievements. He shared a video of his son John, proudly calling him “The Student” while celebrating his winter break from St. John’s University.
The proud dad even shared John’s grades, showing screenshots of his 100% test scores in business law while shouting out Hill for their son’s scholastic success.
“Mommy always make sure things A class, literally,” he wrote.
He is a grandfather
In a 2025 interview on the All the Smoke podcast, Rohan shared that he has nine grandchildren, calling them “the most joyful thing in life.”
Rohan has three grandchildren from daughter Eden: Ocean, Oakley and a new addition who was born in the summer of 2024.
Zion is also a father. He made a surprise appearance with Hill during a 2022 performance when she played her famous song about him, “To Zion.” He came back onstage later in the concert with his children, and Hill introduced her grandchildren to the crowd.
“This is my grandson Zephaniah. This is my granddaughter Azaria. This is my son, Zion,” she said.
YG has also welcomed three children: a son, Caleb, in 2021 and twins in 2023.
