Shemar Moore is going out with a bang.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the highly anticipated series finale of S.W.A.T., Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Moore) and his team respond to one final terrorist threat when a crew of ex-pat Russian mercenaries holds the city of Los Angeles hostage.

“I just got an alert explosion at Griffith Park,” Hondo says as he enters the control center. “A hiker is being airlifted after stepping on what he’s calling an invisible land mine.”

He quickly discovers the park isn’t the only LA landmark that’s been targeted. Miguel (Niko Pepaj) informs him that a lifeguard truck reported “running over an explosive” in Santa Monica. As Honcho wonders how anyone could plant bombs in “totally different parts of the city” in one night, Miguel pulls up footage from a weather cam, which reveals remotely operated drones dropping landmines in a nearby field.

“This was just sent to the local news. They’re giving us 20 minutes before they blast it wide,” Hicks (Patrick St. Esprit) says as he enters the room.

A video plays on the screen in front of them, and a group of Russian mercenaries wearing masks and holding guns reveals they are responsible for the explosions going on around Los Angeles. As they tease that the mines are “only a taste of what we have done,” they share that they’ve planted “hundreds” bombs in parks, playgrounds and backyards all across the city.

“All we demand is the freedom of a man being detained on your soil, Dmitri Rykov. Release him and we will reveal the coordinates of our bombs. Till then, watch your step, Los Angeles,” he concludes.

In PEOPLE’s second exclusive clip, Hondo and the team deploy to the very field Miguel discovered was targeted by the mercenaries. They encounter a trio of “chemists,” who are seemingly running from the police for making drugs.

One of the chemists lies dead in the grass, undoubtedly a victim of the hidden landmines. As Hondo surveys the area, he sees an odd patch of grass. His suspicions are confirmed when he throws his helmet over and the impact triggers an explosion.

He instructs the chemists to stay where they are until the bomb squad arrives, but the duo, eager to evade arrest, contemplates making a run for it.

“Hey, don’t do it. It’s not worth it,” Miguel warns as one of the chemists tells the other that the team is unlikely to follow them if they run.

“I’m not going to jail!” one of them exclaims as he takes a hesitant step. The remaining chemist nearly follows suit until the former steps on a mine and gets himself killed.

“Is everybody ready to listen now?!” Hondo shouts.
