Sean “Diddy” Combs Shaves Six Weeks Off His Federal Prison Sentence After Rehab Stint

Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will be released from the federal prison in New Jersey a month and a half earlier than expected, according to official prison records, as he entered a rehab program last year after becoming incarcerated.
Combs was found guilty of violations of the Mann Act at his sensational federal trial in Manhattan this past summer, but dodged more serious counts of sex trafficking and racketeering. In a dramatic turnaround for the fallen rap idol and his legal team, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison instead of the time served sentence they were seeking.
Now, Combs can shave a month off that four-year-plus sentence, as the Federal Bureau of Prisons has updated his release date to April 25, 2028, which is about five weeks forward from the original date of June 4 of the same year. It’s the latest date change for Combs, after the date was moved from May to June.
“Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start. He is fully engaged in his work, focused on growth and committed to positive change,” a representative for Combs told Page Six on Wednesday.
The rapper and fashion icon, who reached near-billionaire status ahead of his trial, is serving his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, roughly 40 miles from Philadelphia. His attorneys asked that their client be sent to the federal facility, as it is known to have a rehab program. During his trial, rampant drug use during the rapper’s so-called “freak-off” parties was laid bare; he and his girlfriends and hired male escorts would take ecstasy, GHB, and other drugs during marathon sessions that could go for four days straight.
Following Combs’ sensational trial last year, where his sex life, drug habits, and dark relationships with his romantic partners were detailed for the jury and courtroom, then splashed across headlines worldwide, prosecutors reeling from the split verdict sought a harsher 10-year sentence. His team of high-priced lawyers asked for no more than 14 months, but requested that the year he had already spent in a Brooklyn federal lockup count toward the sentence handed down and that he be released to his home and family.
Meanwhile, Combs filed to appeal his four-year sentence in December. But the case seems to be stuck, and at least one of his star attorneys looks to have a new splashy case. Following sentencing, the appeal was filed, arguing that the government failed to prove its case against him in terms of the Mann Act violation, which involved the transportation of another person for sex work. His lawyers also claimed the federal judge overseeing the case was too harsh in sentencing Combs and therefore violated his constitutional rights.
But one of Combs’ star attorneys, Teny Geragos, may have moved on to another case involving a famous, imprisoned New Yorker. Today, she is in court representing Harvey Weinstein as it is decided if he will take a plea deal or face a retrial on one of his New York rape cases.
