Selena Gomez Set to Guest Star Again in ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ Season 2

Selena Gomez is picking up her wand again.

Gomez is reprising her role as Alex Russo in the Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, this fall. In the original series, the Russo family children, Alex (Gomez), Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin), learn how to use their powers from their mortal dad, Jerry (David DeLuise.) It ran on Disney Channel from 2007-2012 for four seasons. In the series finale, Alex wins the family wizard competition and gains all of the family powers.

The spinoff launched on Disney Channel and Disney+ in Oct. 2024 and starred Gomez’s original series’ costar, Henrie. The new series sees Justin adjusting to living with mortality. Alex introduces him to a young wizard-in-training, Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), who needs his help. Gomez appeared in two episodes of the show’s first season.

The singer-actress announced the news of her return to the spinoff on Thursday by posting a photo holding a wand with the caption: “Just feels right” on her Instagram Story.

The synopsis for season two reads: “Billie grapples with the fact that being part of the Russo family might be more complicated than she thought — especially now that she’s not the only wizard in the house. Thanks to Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo’s (Max Matenko) new magical powers, Justin is now tasked with training three young wizards for the Family Wizard Competition. As the stakes rise inside and outside the family, a mysterious new threat emerges — one that could unravel the Russos forever.”

Todd Greenwald created Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as its writers and executive producers. Gomez, Henrie Gary Marsh and Jonas Agin also exec produce.

Season two premieres this fall on Disney+ and Disney Channel.
