Sherri Shepherd Says She’s “Overwhelmed” With Support Following Talk Show Cancellation

Sherri Shepherd is sharing an update on how she’s doing following the news that her daytime talk show, Sherri, was canceled earlier this week.

The talk show host took to Instagram to respond to the outpouring of support she’s received since it was revealed that Sherri would be ending after four seasons. “Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv,” she wrote in a joint post with the show’s official Instagram account, alongside screenshots of encouraging fan messages.

Shepherd also explained why she hasn’t yet addressed the cancellation on air. “You might’ve noticed that yesterday and today I was struggling because I wasn’t feeling up to speed. Well it turns out I have Covid,” she continued. “As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out. Until then, I am truly grateful that SHERRI has made such an impact on you! See ya soon.”

On Monday afternoon, Debmar-Mercury — the Lionsgate-owned syndicated TV production company — announced it was canceling Sherri. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said the decision was driven by the “evolving daytime television landscape,” and added that it “does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production — which has found strong creative momentum this season — or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd. We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms.”

Sherri, which debuted in 2022, will continue production on its fourth season as planned, with final episodes expected to air this fall.

The cancellation news came just hours after NBCUniversal announced plans to end The Kelly Clarkson Show following its seventh season.
