Simone Biles Gives Update on Texas Home Construction and Reveals When She and Jonathan Owens Hope to Move in (Exclusive)

• While at the Kentucky Derby, the Olympian exclusively told PEOPLE that she feels they’ve “done a good collab” on the property, which they’ve been renovating since 2023
• “Hopefully very, very soon,” she teased of a move-in date

Simone Biles is going for gold when it comes to mapping out her and Jonathan Owens’ new home.

The Olympian, 28, caught up with PEOPLE on Saturday, May 3 at the 2025 Kentucky Derby — where she detailed her and her husband’s efforts to construct their Texas home and when they hope to settle in.

“Only the [homeowner association] has vetoed a lot of stuff,” Biles said after being asked if she and Owens, 28, vetoed any property ideas in the process. “But other than that, I mean, I think we’ve done a good collab of what we wanted our house to look like.”

“So hopefully we’ll be able to move in soon,” she added.

As for when the pair plan to start living in the new pad, Biles reiterated their timeline: “Hopefully very, very soon.”

“We were supposed to be in before the Olympics, and unfortunately that wasn’t the case,” she said. “So we’re just waiting for the weather to die down. We’re just… we’ll see.”

Both Biles and Owens attended the annual race in Louisville over the weekend, as the gymnast gave the traditional “riders up” call on Saturday. For the outing, the pair matched in purple attire — Biles wearing a sequined dress and purple hat as the NFL star opted for a purple suit jacket, white trousers and a purple hat of his own.

The couple, who met in 2020 and wed in April 2023, have been sharing a glimpse of their home renovations since September 2023.

In the months to follow, Biles has given fans multiple sneak peeks of the waterfront mansion, from showing off the home’s marble countertops to a massive in-the-works closet that she’s “obsessed” with. She’s also taken fans along for the ride for the less-than-ideal renovation aspects, like when the pair hit a setback in the process in November 2023. 

“Yesterday I was here from 11am-5pm…..🥴. I thought it was going to be a 30-minute thing bc I had no clue what I was walking into,” she shared on Instagram at the time, adding that she “made progress” after asking her dad for help.

“Called my dad for backup yesterday bc I panicked! but I’ve made so much progress & I’m so proud of myself. Jonathan will deal with the end result oops……..I hope I did it decently & thought of all the things,” she added in another update.

As for a more recent update on the home, Biles told fans back in October — during her “bye week” from her GOAT Tour — that she “had to check in on the progress at the new house,” sharing snaps of her Instagram Story of the home’s pool, garage, kitchen and laundry room.

By the looks of the most recent photos, the home is set to feature an in-ground pool, three-car garage and some gorgeous pops of marble.

Biles documented another milestone on social media back in March, when she rang in her 28th birthday alongside a black, heart-shaped birthday cake with “Twenty ATE” written in white icing. At the time, Owens paid tribute to his wife on the platform, too.

“Happy birthday to my wife, my queen, my best friend, my everything,” he wrote on Instagram alongside multiple photos of them together.

“Being married to you is everything i could’ve ever asked for, a beautiful, funny, intelligent and confident person that motivates me to be the best version of myself everyday,” Owens added. “I’m so blessed to have met someone as amazing as you baby, i cherish every moment that we spend together.”
