‘Talamasca: The Secret Order’ Trailer Teases New Spy-Inspired Entry in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe

AMC has released its first trailer for Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order, the third installment in its popular Immortal Universe series.

In the two minute trailer (below), the death of someone close to a secret society charged with monitoring the world’s immortals, including witches and vampires, prompts the group to seek out a new recruit in the form of a young unsuspecting man, Guy Anatole (Nicholas Denton).

On the cusp of graduating law school, Guy is quickly whisked into the world of the Talamascas, who have been monitoring him since he was a child. Initially moving under the suspicion that they are spies — and with the series itself teasing a spy-genre tone — what he discovers is something much more complicated and powerful when they make an offer to hire him.

“Why me?” Guy asks in the trailer. “You check several boxes,” answers Elizabeth McGovern’s Helen, the leader of its New York Motherhouse. “You’re often secretive, smart, and you have a rare talent, Guy. You hear things others cannot.”

Once he accepts, Guy must help the Talamasca after their London Motherhouse has been infiltrated, according to Helen, and with it, all of the Talamasca’s secret information has gone missing. In an effort to help the group retrieve it, Guy encounters William Fitchner’s Jasper, a mysterious American who has quietly assumed control and influence over the Talamasca’s London Motherhouse.

As the trailer teases, the deeper Guy gets into the world of the immortals and the Talamasca, the more complicated his relationship with this underworld of creatures and their “monitors” becomes, leaving the young man to figure out what these beings ultimately want with him.

While the series doesn’t have its own set of books from Rice, its characters are referenced in both the Interview with the Vampire and Mayfair Witches book series, alongside mentions in both AMC series adaptations.

Created by John Lee Hancock, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Celine Buckens also star in the upcoming series with Jason Schwartzman set to guest star alongside Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire stars Eric Bogosian and Justin Kirk, who will reprise their roles as crossover characters.

Anne Rice’s Talamasca: The Secret Order will premiere on AMC and AMC+ on Oct. 26.
