‘The Good Nurse’ and ‘The Quiet Ones’ Directors Team Up for Danish Thriller ‘Torpedo’

Danish filmmaker Tobias Lindholm, co-writer of Another Round (2020) and The Hunt (2012) and director of Netflix hit The Good Nurse, is teaming up with Danish director Frederik Louis Hviid (2024 heist thriller The Quiet Ones) on the new Danish crime thriller Torpedo.
The film, which Hviid and Lindholm have co-written for Hviid to direct, is a look at how gangs in Denmark weaponize kids and young people, turning them into so-called torpedoes to carry out violent crimes. The story follows the 16-year-old Kian who, after a failed drug deal, is tasked with murder to make things right. The film is inspired by real events and developed from extensive research and interviews with police, lawyers, researchers, reporters and young “torpedoes” in sheltered institutions, the producers, SF Studios, said in a statement.
“Torpedoes are a relatively new phenomenon which spreads fast, also here in Denmark,” said Hviid in a statement. “To me it has been important to understand what happens when violence is perpetrated by young people who have not chosen to do so and who cannot yet comprehend the consequences of their actions. It is a matter we have rarely seen in Danish film, and hence the work on Torpedo has required an extensive research before we could achieve any measure of truth.”
Lindholm added the film would show “evidence from the dark side of the Danish dream – and a rare opportunity to focus on the kids who disappear in the promises and lies of the world of crime.”
Marcella Dichmann is producing Torpedo for SF Studios. The film is expected to hit cinemas in 2027.
