The Hollywood Reporter Names Ada Guerin as Creative Director and Tony Maglio as Television Editor

The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday announced the addition of two powerhouse talents to its editorial team: Ada Guerin as creative director and Tony Maglio as television editor.

Guerin, a multi-disciplinary and award-winning creative director with more than two decades of experience, will oversee the look and feel of multiple editorial properties for the brand, including the weekly magazine, awards specials, website, video and social channels. She will be based in Los Angeles.

Maglio, a respected television journalist and editor, will oversee THR’s television coverage across the portfolio. He will be based in New York.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Ada and Tony to THR,” said Maer Roshan and Shirley Halperin, co-editors-in-chief of The Hollywood Reporter. “Ada’s keen design sense and multimedia experience will continue to solidify THR as a pre-eminent platform for the top photographers and illustrators in the world.

“Tony’s years of expertise and rich contacts promise to further enhance our coverage of this vital industry,” continued Roshan and Halperin. “Their appointments come at an important moment in THR’s continuing evolution, as we expand our editorial impact and footprint across the globe.”

Guerin most recently was creative director of Los Angeles Magazine, where she helped reimagine the publication’s visual identity through a series of acclaimed editorial packages. Before that, Guerin spent nine years as creative director at TheWrap, where she led two major brand and website redesigns that resulted in a 200 percent-plus increase in social media reach. Her efforts helped the publication earn best entertainment website at the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards. She has also brought her creative expertise to niche and luxury publications like Robb Report’s Motorcycling and 429; in addition to her design work, Guerin has been a radio personality for Westwood One.

“Rejoining The Hollywood Reporter after 15 years feels like stepping into an exhilarating new chapter of Hollywood storytelling,” said Guerin. “Under the bold leadership of Shirley Halperin and Maer Roshan, THR has established itself as a smart, dynamic and inventive force. I’m thrilled to shape THR’s creative direction in this next era, building a visually bold and compelling home for the entertainment industry’s most essential conversations.”

Previously, Maglio was executive editor of news and business at IndieWire. He will cover the business and news of the television industry for The Hollywood Reporter

“I am beyond thrilled to join the terrific team at THR as it builds on its coverage of the television industry,” Maglio said. “It’s truly the realization of a dream.”

Maglio has written on a freelance basis for Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” as well as for various other shows. After graduating from Columbia University’s School of Journalism, Maglio accepted an internship at Hollywood trade publication TheWrap, where he rose from intern to TV editor. In 2022, IndieWire recruited Maglio to launch a new business vertical as executive editor, and later, he added oversight of the website’s news division to his purview.

In addition to its in-depth reporting and analysis, thought-provoking reviews, world-class photography and feature exclusives, THR also boasts prestigious live events, industry-leading philanthropic, empowerment and diversity initiatives and hugely successful video series including the Emmy-nominated Off Script With The Hollywood Reporter. In 2024, THR received 40 awards for excellence at the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards and was recently nominated for two Webbys.
