‘The Last Sunrise’ Movie: Andrés Velencoso, Chloé Sweetlove Join Amazon MGM Adaptation (Exclusive)

Amazon MGM Studios‘ forthcoming feature adaptation of The Last Sunrise is adding to its cast.

Andrés Velencoso and Chloé Sweetlove have joined director Carlson Young’s film, which is based on author Anna Todd‘s best-selling novel, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. Previously announced castmembers include Maia Reficco, Fernando Lindez and Eva Longoria.

The Last Sunrise is set on the Spanish island of Majorca and centers on Oriah “Ry” Pera (Reficco), a 22-year-old who has dealt with chronic illness and a challenging relationship with her mom. While spending the summer overseas, she meets Julián (Lindez), who gives new excitement to her life as her return to the U.S. approaches.

Velencoso will play Mateo, the love interest to Isolde, while Sweetlove portrays fan-favorite character Amara. 

Young (Upgraded) helms the movie from a script by Anna Klassen. Todd serves as producer, alongside Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay for Ethea Entertainment, Lena Roklin for Luber Roklin Entertainment and Brian Pitt for Pitt Street Productions.

Todd is known for her book series After, which launched with its first YA romance title in 2014. After, which was originally conceived as Harry Styles-inspired fan fiction, was adapted as a 2019 film starring Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, and two sequels have followed. The Last Sunrise was published in May.

A Spanish model and actor, Velencoso is known for starring in the Netflix series Élite and Edha. Other recent credits include Eva & Nicole and Regreso a Las Sabinas. Velencoso is represented by A6 Cinema in Spain.

Sweetlove has had starring roles on the Paramount+ series The Crow Girl and the remake of Bergerac. She is repped by Mondi Associates in the U.K. and LuberRoklin in the U.S.
