Tribeca Festival Audio Storytelling Slate: ‘This American Life’ 30th Anniversary Celebration, Live Tapings With Sandra Oh, Allison Williams (Exclusive)

The 2025 Tribeca Festival‘s audio storytelling lineup features star-studded live events and world premiere podcasts in competition.

The program will begin with the Excellence in Audio Journalism Gala, which will celebrate 30 years of This American Life as Ira Glass looks back at the series with novelist and podcaster Ira Madison III.

The festival will also host live tapings of The New York TimesThe Interview with Sandra Oh, Slate‘s Death, Sex & Money with Allison Williams, Radiotopia’s The Memory Place with live performances from Carrie Coon and Lili Taylor, Pushkin’s Broken Record and Lemonada’s Talk Easy.

Tribeca is additionally set to host world premieres of Apple’s Easy Money: The Charles Ponzi Story, followed by a live conversation with lead voice actor Sebastian Maniscalco and financial journalist Maya Lau; Audible’s What Could Go Wrong?, from Contagion screenwriter Scott Z. Burns; and a new audio adaptation of Hamlet from the Make-Believe Association, debuting with an immersive listening experience followed by a live conversation hosted by The Public Theater.

There will also be a retrospective of the British series Short Cuts with Josie Long.

The festival’s official podcast selections include world premieres of Lead, a scripted docudrama inspired by a true story featuring Merritt Wever, Alessandro Nivola and Cynthia Nixon; the customer service investigation podcast This Call May Be Recorded; and Jacob Reed & Me, an exploration of identity and personal discovery.

“Our 2025 official selections highlight where narrative audio is headed—stories with a sharper focus on voice and perspective and experimentation with both format and subject matter,” Tribeca Festival audio storytelling curator Davy Gardner said in a statement. “This year’s live events showcase a wide range of live show formats—from live podcast recordings and audio theater to audiobook performances and group listening experiments. The program shows that the medium not only works live, but thrives in a communal setting.”

The 2025 Tribeca Festival is set to take place from June 4-15, with the majority of the audio events taking place between June 10-14.
