Weezer to Take the Stage at Coachella Amidst Personal Tragedy for Bassist Scott Shriner

Weezer is still scheduled to perform at Coachella this weekend, despite the recent incident involving bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren, who was shot by police earlier this week, according to multiple sources.
The shooting occurred on Tuesday as police were pursuing three suspects who had fled a hit-and-run case, leading them to Lauren’s neighborhood in Eagle Rock. During the search behind a home, officers spotted Lauren outside her neighboring residence, armed with a handgun.
Authorities reported that they repeatedly asked her to lower her weapon, but she allegedly refused and pointed the gun at them, prompting officers to shoot her. After retreating into her home, she later emerged and was taken into custody. She was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently booked for attempted murder.
Fortunately, no officers were injured in the incident, and one of the suspects from the hit-and-run has been arrested by Highway Patrol.
Weezer was added to the Coachella lineup as a surprise over the weekend, alongside Ed Sheeran, following the withdrawal of acts like FKA Twigs. The situation involving Lauren has understandably led to speculation about whether Weezer would still perform. They are set to take the stage at the Mojave tent for a Saturday afternoon set. This year’s headliners include Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone, with a special performance by Travis Scott as well.
The band has not yet released a statement regarding the incident, although inquiries for comment have been made.
