West Hollywood Pot Shop Owned by Bill Maher, Woody Harrelson Ransacked

A West Hollywood pot shop and smoking lounge owned in part by Bill Maher and Woody Harrelson was burglarized on Saturday morning by five thieves, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

The front window at The Woods at 8271 Santa Monica Blvd was broken, allowing five thieves to enter and ransack the weed dispensary and lounge known for its celebrity cachet before fleeing in a black sedan. Deputies responded to the smash-and-grab incident at The Woods at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, with the retail location tucked among high-end restaurants and shopping centers in West Hollywood.

Video footage of the burglary posted to Instagram by fellow dispensary owner Elliot Lewis shows the five suspects wearing hoodies and filling up bags with stolen weed products before escaping. Major Crimes Detective Olvera, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, on Wednesday told THR an investigation into the burglary is ongoing.

“Obviously, it’s going to take a little time as the suspects were covered up, so it just makes it harder to identify them,” she added about the burglary suspects.  Her department is working alongside the Los Angeles Police Department as that force investigates a burglary two days earlier at a nearby weed dispensary also operated by the owners of The Woods.

The Woods, which opened in 2022, sells everything from smoking apparatuses to flowers and edibles as part of a high-end boutique. Harrelson and Maher’s Woods partners include Michael Berman (CEO of Schoos Design) and Jay Handal and Devon Wheeler, founders of the dispensary chain Erba.

The upscale weed shop has a consumption lounge in its backyard garden and rents out cabana rooms, with names like Treehouse, Lookout and Koi Room.
