Who Is Xavier Worthy’s Ex-Fiancée? All About Tia Jones

Xavier Worthy and Tia Jones’s relationship has come to a turbulent end.
The pair split following an alleged domestic violence incident on March 7. Worthy was arrested for allegedly choking Jones, but he is not expected to face charges.
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver is now suing Jones, claiming she fabricated the assault allegations, a claim her attorney did not immediately comment on. The lawsuit was filed on March 24, according to court docs obtained by PEOPLE.
Worthy met the track and field star by chance one night when they both arrived at the same valet station. Jones was running late for dinner with friends when she spotted the NFL star, whom she quickly recognized from their social media correspondence, she revealed on a November 2024 appearance of The Pregame Podcast with Toyko and Sydnee.
While it’s unclear when they began dating, Worthy proposed in July 2024.
Jones is a highly decorated athlete. After graduating from high school in 2019, she signed with Adidas as a track star specializing in hurdles, even making it to the semifinals of the U.S. Olympic trials in 2024 after bouncing back from an ACL tear.
So who is Xavier Worthy’s ex-fiancée? Here’s everything to know about Tia Jones and her former relationship with the NFL star.
Jones is a track and field star
Worthy and Jones are both known for their careers as professional athletes. During her high school days, Jones broke a number of records and earned multiple gold medals at national championships, per Mile Split.
She was initially set to attend the University of Oregon, but she pivoted after receiving an offer to go professional after her graduation.
She has continued to find success on the track since, including matching the world indoor record for the 60 meter hurdles in February 2024, per NBC Olympics. However, during that same run, Jones endured an ACL injury that prohibited her from competing again until May — just ahead of the Olympics.
Worthy and Jones met by chance
Worthy and Jones’ first meeting was not planned. On The Pregame Podcast, the track and field athlete revealed that the Chiefs wide receiver initially reached out to her via Instagram DM. “You know how it is with Instagram — swipe in, swipe out,” she said, adding that nothing came from his initial message since she didn’t respond.
Some time later, the two crossed paths for the first time on a “random” night when they both arrived at the same restaurant in Texas, where Jones was training and Worthy was playing football at the University of Texas.
Jones explained she was having a “horrible” night and was running late for dinner when Worthy and his friend cut her off while she was driving to meet up with her own pals.
They both coincidentally bumped into one another while dropping off their vehicles at valet when Worthy gave her a look that Jones described as if he was telling her, “I’ve been looking for you.” After the serendipitous moment, the football player reached back out to Jones and asked her on a date.
The track star pointed out the randomness of their encounter, saying, “That’s why God had me late to that dinner ‘cause I met my man.”
She was able to be present during Worthy’s rookie season due to an injury
After suffering an ACL injury in February 2024, Jones was able to recover and move on to the semifinals of the Olympic trials but did not qualify for the Paris Olympics.
Jones’ injury ignited some “dark times” for the track and field star, she said on The Pregame Podcast, but it did allow her to be present for Worthy’s first year in the NFL.
While she would have otherwise been competing in Europe for the latter half of 2024, Jones was instead able to be by Worthy’s side, working on her own physical therapy and training “down the street” from him.
“God just aligned up everything the way it did,” she said. “I’ve been able to be here, you know, taking care of my man…I’ve been able to be more hands-on with him and be with him throughout his rookie season.”
They got engaged in July 2024
Worthy and Jones got engaged in July 2024. They shared a romantic video of their proposal on their joint Instagram account, in which they approached a massive rose sculpture in the shape of a heart on the beach with the words “MARRY ME” in large letters.
Wearing matching all-white outfits, Worthy got down on one knee and popped the question, before Jones enthusiastically said yes.
“The Worthy’s 💍🌹,” they wrote in the caption of the proposal video. Worthy’s teammate Travis Kelce commented his love for the two, writing, “Congratulations!!! 👏🏻👏🏻.”
Jones was supportive of Worthy’s football career
Throughout Worthy’s rookie season with the Chiefs, Jones was an avid supporter of her now-ex-fiancé, attending his games and sharing her admiration for him on social media.
Ahead of the Chiefs’ 2025 Super Bowl appearance against the Philadelphia Eagles, Jones celebrated the team’s semifinal win on Instagram. “We bringing that bowl back to the city 🤍♥️ !!!! #nola,” she wrote.
They shared a home together
Jones and Worthy moved in together in July 2024. The track star documented her journey moving into their Texas home in a TikTok video where she showed herself unpacking and putting together new pieces of furniture.
Jones and Worthy split following an alleged domestic violence incident
On March 7, 2025, Worthy was arrested in Texas for allegedly choking Jones. He was released from custody after the Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick announced that his office would not be accepting the case after multiple witnesses were spoken to.
Worthy’s lawyers, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, released a statement on March 8, claiming that Jones had been asked to leave Worthy’s residence multiple times after the NFL player learned of her alleged infidelity.
Jones was granted a protective order against Worthy on March 12. It will remain in place until an April 1 hearing, per The Athletic.
“Ms. Jones has chosen to use her voice to speak up for herself,” Angelica Cogliano, an attorney for Jones, told the Associated Press. “In doing so, she looks forward to the facts and circumstances of that night coming to light through the formal legal process, and getting the justice that she deserves.”
Worthy responded by filing a lawsuit against Jones on March 24. The suit alleges that the track star assaulted him and destroyed more than $150,000 in cash and property. Worthy also claimed that Jones fabricated her assault allegations.
