‘Yellowjackets’ Buzzes to Season 4 Renewal

Buzz, buzz, buzz! Yellowjackets is coming back for a fourth season.
Paramount+ With Showtime has renewed the hit survival series created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson following a season three finale that was full of revelations and courted a still-buzzing audience. Production dates are set to be announced soon.
The season three ender, which streamed April 11 (and aired two days later on the Showtime cable channel), became Paramount’s most-watched season finale with 3 million cross-platform viewers worldwide in its first seven days.
“Yellowjackets has become a cultural juggernaut, with season three shattering all previous records,” says Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios. “Ashley and Bart have masterfully crafted an utterly singular, genre-defying phenomenon — a perfect alchemy of psychological horror, survival thriller and coming-of-age drama that continues to captivate audiences worldwide, brought to life by our extraordinarily talented and beloved cast.”
Yellowjackets, which tells the coming-of-age, survival saga of a high school team of female soccer players who became survivors after their plane crashes in the remote wilderness, capped its deadly third season — certainly the darkest one yet from showrunners Lyle, Nickerson and Jonathan Lisco — with a revelatory finale that answered several lingering questions (including the identity of “Pit Girl”) and ended on cliffhangers in both of the show’s past and present timelines.
The sprawling cast included Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell, with Elijah Wood in a recurring role and guest stars Hilary Swank, Joel McHale, Nelson Franklin and Ashley Sutton.
The series, produced for Showtime by Lionsgate Television and produced by Paramount Global Content Distribution, is executive produced by Lyle, Nickerson and Lisco, along with Drew Comins of Creative Engine with Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon.
