Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell’s ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ Release Pushed to Fall

The journey for the Sony feature A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, will start later than initially expected.
Director Kogonada‘s film is now set for theatrical release on Sept. 19 after previously having been dated for May 9. Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Hamish Linklater round out the cast for the movie that boasts a script from Seth Reiss (The Menu).
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey will hit theaters on the same day as Universal’s horror flick Him that stars Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers, along with 20th Century Studios’ James L. Brooks-helmed Ella McCay, featuring Emma Mackey, Woody Harrelson and Ayo Edebiri. The previous release date would have seen it compete against A24’s Friendship that stars Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson, in addition to the second weekend for Marvel’s Thunderbolts.
Imperative Entertainment and 30West are behind A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, with the original film centering on two strangers and the unlikely way that their paths align. Reiss, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, Ryan Friedkin and Youree Henley serve as producers.
Kogonada is known for writing and helming the Farrell-starring 2021 feature After Yang, in addition to his directing work on Pachinko.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey marks Robbie’s first released feature as a performer since the summer of 2023, when she appeared in the Wes Anderson comedy Asteroid City in June. A month later, she starred in the Warner Bros. smash Barbie for director Greta Gerwig.
Farrell recently starred in the HBO series The Penguin and the feature The Banshees of Inisherin, with the latter earning him an Oscar nomination.
