Influencer Lauren Cummings Johnson Mourns the Loss of Her 9-Month-Old Daughter: A Heartfelt Tribute to ‘Pure Joy and Sunshine’

Influencer Lauren Cummings Johnson and her husband Wilson Johnson are grieving the loss of their 9-month-old daughter, Lily Ann. The couple shared the heartbreaking news in a joint Instagram post on April 7, announcing that their beloved infant passed away the day before.
“She was exactly 9 months old, 9 months our beautiful miracle, 9 months of love, joy, and sunshine in our home and hearts,” they expressed in their heartfelt caption. “We are so incredibly grateful for the promise of Heaven and the hope we have in our Heavenly Father.”
They continued, “His ways are higher and better than ours, even when we don’t understand it. He blessed us every single day for the past 9 months, and we will never be the same.”
Lauren and Wilson described being Lily Ann’s parents as “the honor of our lifetime,” extending their gratitude to their followers for their prayers since Lily Ann’s birth on July 6, 2024. They remembered their daughter as “pure joy and sunshine,” cherishing every moment they had with her as a “blessing.”
To conclude their touching tribute, they quoted pastor Tim Keller on the challenges of life, stating, “That is what we are in for, nothing less.”
The post featured a collection of family photographs, including one of the couple kissing Lily Ann’s head and another showing the baby girl placing her fingers on Wilson’s lips. The emotional tribute was accompanied by the song “Come Jesus Come” by CeCe Winans.
In a subsequent Instagram Stories update, Lauren expressed how difficult it has been to connect with her followers following Lily Ann’s passing, noting that her daughter “loved” being included in her posts. She shared that she and Wilson had been “fully prepared” for the possibility of only having a short time together as a family after Lily Ann’s birth.
Lauren had documented her pregnancy journey, beginning with the announcement in January 2024. Following Lily Ann’s arrival, she was admitted to the pediatric ICU just eight hours after being discharged from the hospital. In an earlier post, Lauren described her baby girl as a “miracle,” revealing that Lily Ann was born with a condition preventing her from breaking down protein due to a missing critical enzyme in the urea cycle.
“She was hospitalized for her first month of life, which led to her first nasogastric (NG) tube,” Lauren explained. “It was critical for her to get a specific amount of calories so her body didn’t break down its own muscles for protein. It allowed access for immediate food and medication delivery.” After months of feeding therapy, Lauren shared that they eventually opted for G-tube surgery in December since Lily Ann was still unable to take bottles by mouth.
Earlier this month, Lauren shared new photos of Lily Ann on Instagram, celebrating her daughter’s surgery. “Our angel girl 🤍 we couldn’t be more in love or more obsessed with her!!” she wrote. “And for those who remember how nervous I was about her G-tube – it’s been amazing and so life-saving for us!!”
Lauren announced that Lily Ann’s funeral is scheduled for Monday, April 14, at a church in Nashville, Tennessee. An obituary has indicated that the family requests donations be made to two organizations that supported them during this difficult time: Alive Hospice and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
