Nita Ambani’s hairstylist Amit Thakur reveals dangers of hair Botox and Keratin treatments

Celebrity hairstylist Amit Thakur, known to work with celebrities such as Nita Ambani, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and Katrina Kaif, had once taken to his Instagram and talked about hair Botox and keratin treatments. In the video clip, he had shared his thoughts on these popular salon procedures and why he tries to avoid recommending them to his clients.
The video, captioned “I recently did an AMA & this was the most asked question.Watch the video to know my thoughts,” starts with Amit contemplating the effectiveness and after-effects of hair Botox and keratin treatments, apparent by the controversy it creates in the minds of salon-goers.

Amit explained that hair Botox is, basically, a deep conditioning treatment filled with proteins, vitamins, and antioxidants. Hair Botox coats the outer layer of your hair and seals in these nutrients,” he said, adding that it usually lasts 2 to 4 months. By comparison, he portrayed keratin treatments as the process of applying keratin, which is a natural hair protein, often combined with harmful chemicals like formaldehyde, banned in many countries because of carcinogenic properties.
While these treatments can temporarily improve hair-frizz reduction and make hair smoother, Amit said he is concerned about long-term effects of such treatments. “The goodness in both treatments is locked in with the use of heat,” Amit explained. “Too much heat alters the structure of the proteins in your hair, causing potential long-term damage.” He added that though the treatments may have quick aesthetic benefits, repeated treatments will only continue to damage hair.

Amit concluded by saying that he liked the natural hair texture and took the stand for long-lasting hair health instead of temporary quick fixes. “I am against these treatments since I support the improvment of hair health for a longer period,” he said. “Natural hair management practices are generally more rewarding and workable in the long run.”
With Amit’s candid view on hair Botox and keratin treatment, maybe you will have second thoughts if this is really worth the resolution of your hair care goals.
