The Eyewear Styles Every It Girl Is Wearing
Ask any fashionable person you admire to rank the accessories they use the most, and I guarantee eyewear will be in the top five (in my case, it’s actually number one!). In celebration of this practical and stylish accessory, we partnered with one of our favorite brands in the game, Vogue Eyewear, on an exciting event. Set at a beautiful estate in sunny Beverly Hills, guests spent the afternoon trying out the latest collections, creating custom eyewear chains, and listening to a panel hosted by our very own editor in chief, Kat Collings, featuring model and creative Salem Mitchell, and celebrity stylist Zerina Akers as panelists.
Collings led the women in a conversation about the intersection between confidence and fashion, discovering your personal style, and of course, their favorite eyewear shapes and styles (square frames for Mitchell and round for Akers). It’s no surprise that as a fashion editor, Collings is all about experimenting with the latest eyewear trends, whether they’re different colors or shapes. Here she’s wearing a unique pair with blue-to-gray gradient lenses.
Throughout her career, Akers has dressed some of the most A-list celebrities in the world, so I trust any styling tip she’s willing to share. And share she did! Of her many tips, I personally loved learning that aviators are a universal eyewear style that suits every face shape. (Good to know if I ever forget my sunglasses and need to borrow some from a friend.) However, her personal favorite frame shape is round as you can see by her eyewear choice for the event. I love these translucent lenses because it’s impossible to go wrong with styling—they go with any outfit.
Mitchell talked a lot about finding an outfit uniform that works for your body type and personal style. Her current go-to is a miniskirt, T-shirt, and square-frame glasses. “I’m blind!” she quickly admits to the crowd, before explaining that she’s happy people are now wearing glasses as a fashion statement. I love the thin gold frame on this pair she’s wearing—they’d work perfectly with either gold or silver jewelry.
