Well, Well, Well, If It Isn’t 2025’s Most-Talked-About Accessory Trend
Something has changed on the runways in the last two seasons. Whereas before, the ready-to-wear featured was what really sparked conversations and stuck in show attendees’ brains, recent collections have seen a shift in attention paid toward accessories. The more personality in them, the better. Think pillbox hats, leather opera gloves, enlarged handbags, and statement-making belts, to name a few. At the spring/summer 2025 shows, one accessory, in particular, made its dominance known: Ties.
Funnily enough, unlike most other accessories trends, ties weren’t seen at dozens of different shows. They didn’t have to be to become the most talked-about accessory of the entire season. All it really took was one show to shoot them toward that number-one spot: Saint Laurent. At the French fashion house’s Paris Fashion Week show, Bella Hadid and a slew of other top models donned oversized menswear-inspired suits straight out of an ’80s Wall Street–inspired drama. With them, they wore gold cuff bracelets, sky-high pumps, and for some, cool outerwear like satin overcoats and leather bombers. Others donned the suits solo. The one connecting factor? They all had on perfectly tied neckties.
Immediately following the show, buzz began to spread about the looks, and specifically the ties each model wore. Hadid’s Instagram slideshow from backstage of the show went off online, adding to the trend’s rise. A short time later, when Hailey Bieber hosted an event at Funke in Beverly Hills for Rhode, she wore a suit straight off the Saint Laurent runway—tan with a burgundy tie. And just like that, with both Bieber and Hadid’s stamps of approval, ties became the It buy of 2025—and the year hasn’t even begun.
Before long, ties hit my IG feed, appearing on every well-dressed stylist, editor, and content creator’s grid. Many appeared to take inspiration from Saint Laurent’s classic office styling, while others, like Elsa Hosk, went for a more casual approach, pairing her jacket, shirt, and tie with stovepipe jeans. She did, however, add Oxfords and a briefcase-like Hermès Kelly bag, which were both smart touches.
