Sydney Sweeney and Halsey Team Up for a Western Showdown in Wild Trailer for Americana

Halsey and Sydney Sweeney get caught up in a battle over a prized artifact in their new movie.

The singer, 28, and the Anyone But You actress, 27, team up Americana, a neo-Western that features an ensemble cast, including Paul Walter Hauser, Simon Rex, Eric Dane and Zahn McClarnon. The film is set in a South Dakota town as everyone gets embroiled in a plot to steal a prized Lakota “ghost shirt.” 

“A highly prized Native American artifact leads a gallery of dynamic characters down a dangerous path in this wildly entertaining modern-day Western,” teases a synopsis.

“After the rare relic falls onto the black market, the lives of a small-town woman and her son become violently intertwined with a quirky local diner waitress, an offbeat military veteran and a corrupt antiquities dealer.”

“Crime and chaos follow when an indigenous group leader and his crew join the fray in order to reclaim the artifact and return it to its rightful place,” the synopsis adds.  

Americana marks Halsey’s second foray into acting for the screen in recent years. She made her live-action acting debut in 2024’s MaXXXine after taking on some voice roles throughout her career.

For Euphoria star Sweeney, though, the movie is the latest in a string of films she has starred in in recent years, including Anyone But You, Madame Web and Immaculate. This year, Sweeney also stars in Ron Howard’s upcoming movie Eden, which releases the same weekend as Americana.  

Americana is written and directed by Tony Tost in his directorial debut; Tost previously wrote for television series like The Terror, Damnation and Longmire.

Americana is in theaters Aug. 22.
