Erin Foster Calls Leighton Meester a ‘Comic Genius’ Ahead of Her Exciting Return in Season 2 of Nobody Wants This
Erin Foster, the creator of Nobody Wants This, is enthusiastically promoting Leighton Meester’s upcoming appearance in the show’s second season.
The 39-year-old actress joined the cast of the popular Netflix series, which features her real-life husband Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, back in February 2025.
While attending the 2025 Fashion Scholarship Fund Gala at The Glasshouse in New York City on April 7, Foster spoke about Meester and shared that she is excelling in her guest star role.
“I don’t know if anyone knows, but she’s a comedic genius. She’s so funny. She blew our minds. We were left thinking, ‘Should we write more of her in?'” Foster remarked.
“She’s done comedies before, but this is a different level of funny,” she continued. “There was just a unique energy that I’d never seen from her, and she absolutely nailed it. She’s truly talented.”
When asked about the dynamic between Meester and Brody, 45, Foster mentioned, “They’ve got great chemistry.”
Meester is set to portray a character named Abby in the second season. Abby is described as the “middle school nemesis” of Bell’s character Joanne and is characterized as an “Instagram mommy influencer.”
Production for the second season of Nobody Wants This began in March 2025. The cast includes returning stars Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons, and Jackie Tohn, along with newcomers such as Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, and Arian Moayed, according to a Netflix press release.
An official synopsis for the new season has yet to be released, and the premiere date for the new episodes remains unclear.
In April 2025, photos surfaced of Brody, Bell, 45, and Lupe, 35, filming a scene for the show while dressed in Halloween costumes.
The news of Meester and Brody’s relationship first emerged in 2013. They announced their engagement that November and tied the knot in February 2014.
The couple has two children—a 9-year-old daughter named Arlo and a 4-year-old son, whose name they have chosen to keep private. In February 2025, Meester shared some rare insights about her children during an interview with Vogue.
“My kids understand what we do,” she noted, adding that they often accompany her and Brody “on location a lot.”
“I don’t think they’re fazed at all,” she continued. “They get plenty of us off set and a lot of quality time when we’re not working, which has always been a significant benefit for both of us.”
