2 Protestors Tased, Others Removed at Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Town Hall: ‘The Protest Is Outside’

- At least nine protesters were removed from an April 15 town hall that Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene hosted in her home state.
- Of the nine, three were arrested and two were shocked with Tasers, according to police.
- Greene referenced Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the immigrant who was accidentally deported to El Salvador, saying that a protester was removed “just like that illegal alien,” despite Abrego Garcia’s legal protected status that should have prevented his deportation.
Multiple protesters were removed and two were shocked with Tasers while attending a town hall hosted by Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The event, which took place on Tuesday, April 15, was hosted at the Acworth Community Center in Georgia.
Police confirmed that at least nine people were removed from the event for protesting, according to reporting by ABC News. Of the nine, six were “escorted out without incident.” The others were arrested.
As one of the protesters was removed, Greene referenced Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland-based immigrant with a legal protected status who was accidentally deported to El Salvador’s infamous CECOT mega prison.
“Bye. Just like that illegal alien,” Greene was heard mockingly saying in a video shared by ABC, falsely implying that Abrego Garcia was not in the country legally.
Though the El Salvador native entered the country illegally as a teenager, he was granted permission to stay due to fears that he would be killed if he was deported. He has since married a U.S. citizen and is a father.
Although Greene was outspoken in her support of President Donald Trump, she told attendees, “This is not a political rally. This is not a protest. If you stand up and want to protest, if you want to shout and chant, we will have you removed, just like that man was thrown out.”
She also referenced protesters who were stationed outside the event, with AP reporting that “more than 100” people stood outside to voice displeasure in Greene and the current administration.
“The protest is outside. Thank you very much,” Greene told attendees, according to Fox News. “If you were to sit and listen, you’re welcome to listen. Everyone across the aisle — Democrats, independents.”
“We also have to recognize that the majority in the room were standing and cheering when those people were thrown out, and again, it was the protesters who were out of line,” Greene told reporters after the town hall ended, via NBC News.
Police provided details of the three people who were arrested at the event, according to AP. That included a 40-year-old man from Atlanta, and a 45-year-old man and 28-year-old woman from Dallas, Georgia.
Charges ranged from “simple battery on a law enforcement officer” to “violating a city ordinance forbidding vulgar language in a public space.”
Video from the town hall, shared by outlets such as NBC and ABC, showed one protester arguing with police before being stunned with a Taser.
“I’m glad they got thrown out,” Greene said, via Fox. “That’s exactly what I wanted to see happen … This isn’t a political rally or a protest. I held a town hall tonight. You know who was out of line? The protesters.”
Several GOP town hall events across the nation have been interrupted by protesters expressing frustration with the president and his administration’s controversial policies.
Greene’s town hall came after stock purchases she recently made during a market dip have sparked bipartisan calls to ban congressional stock trading.
