At the 10th annual Hollywood Beauty Awards on Sunday, Sweeney showed support for her longtime hairstylist Glen “Coco” Oropeza (who won the Sanna Seppanen Hairstyling Award) while donning a complete chocolate-brown outfit: a sleek pantsuit, a waist-cinching croc corset, and a matching manicure. Clearly, Ganzorigt drew inspiration from the croc-embossed garment for her red carpet nail design. The manicure almost perfectly mirrors the pattern, as evident from her Instagram carousel above.

Ganzorigt hasn’t disclosed the precise tutorial for Sweeney’s look, but all you likely require is a sheer base coat (or blooming gel, a special base that causes any applied color to spread across the nail) and chocolate-brown nail polish. After applying your base, create horizontal stripes evenly across the nail plate, ensuring space between each column to achieve the crocodile-print effect. Trust me, the technique sounds far more challenging than it truly is. In fact, I would consider it the simplest of all animal prints to execute, as it requires only one polish color. In fact, the effect appears even more stylish when the nails are intentionally mismatched.

If you consider yourself knowledgeable about nail trends, you might hesitate before opting for a dark polish during spring. But let me reassure you that richer tones like chocolate brown are completely on-trend for the season. “It’s an anti-trend,” celebrity nail artist Julie Kandalec remarks about dark polish for spring. “It’s like, ‘I know pastels are usually the trend, but I want to stand out.'” I would argue that there’s nothing more eye-catching than a Sweeney-inspired chocolate croc manicure.
