Peabody Awards: ‘Baby Reindeer,’ ‘Hacks,’ ‘Shogun’ Among Entertainment Nominees

Today the Peabody Awards announced its nominees in the categories of arts, children’s/youth, entertainment and interactive and immersive media.

Notable nominations in the entertainment category include Netflix’s Baby Reindeer and Ripley, Max’s Hacks, and FX’s Shogun as well as nods for the Max comedy specials Alex Edelman: Just for Us and Ramy Youssef: More Feelings. National Geographic’s six-part documentary Photographer is the sole nominee in the arts category.

“Whether a sweeping, cinematic drama, a sharp-witted comedy, a moving children’s program, or an interactive experience, Peabody is dedicated to rewarding resonant stories,” said Jeffrey Jones, executive director of Peabody, in a press statement. “All of our nominees demonstrate thought-provoking storytelling that entertains, enlightens, and leaves an impact on audiences that serves to expand our collective understanding of humanity.”

Today’s news release follows Tuesday’s announcement of nominations in the documentary, news, public service and radio/podcast categories. This year’s 68 nominees were chosen by a unanimous vote of 27 jurors from more than 1,000 entries across television, podcasts/radio and the web in entertainment, news, documentary, arts, children’s/youth, public service, and interactive/immersive programming and media.

Winners of the 85th Annual Peabody Awards will be announced on May 1, with a ceremony hosted by comedian and actor Roy Wood Jr. to be held on June 1 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. As previously announced, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell will be honored with the Career Achievement Award during the celebration. Saturday Night Live will also be recognized with the Institutional Award.
